Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 2025

For users in the EU/EEA: This policy explains our use of cookies and similar technologies in accordance with the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your preferences and understand how you interact with it. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixel tags.

2. Who We Are (Data Controller)

Toolgin operates the website at toolgin.com. For the purposes of EU data protection law, Toolgin acts as the data controller for any personal data collected through cookies. You can reach us via the contact page.

We do not use advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or any cookies that build a profile for targeted marketing.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the GDPR (Article 6), we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — strictly necessary cookies required for the site to function (e.g. theme preference, security logs).
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — analytics cookies are only set if you have given clear, informed consent. You may withdraw consent at any time (see §7).

Under the ePrivacy Directive, we will not store or access non-essential cookies on your device without your prior consent.

5. Third-Party Services

Some cookies may be set by third-party services we use. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

  • Cloudflare (hosting) — may log request metadata for performance and security. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Analytics provider — if enabled, anonymised usage data may be collected. We only use privacy-respecting analytics that do not track individuals across sites.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any advertising networks.

6. Cookies We Do NOT Use

To be explicit, Toolgin does not use:

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Social media tracking pixels (Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Cross-site tracking or fingerprinting techniques
  • Cookies that share data with data brokers

7. Your Rights and Choices

As a user in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights regarding cookies and personal data:

  • Right to withdraw consent — you can withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Right to access — you can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure — you can request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to lodge a complaint — you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (DPA).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page.

8. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

You can control and delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Here are links to instructions for common browsers:

Note: blocking strictly necessary cookies (like the theme preference stored in localStorage) may affect certain features of the site.

9. Retention Periods

Strictly necessary data (server logs) is retained for up to 90 days. Analytics data, if collected, may be retained for up to 24 months in aggregated, anonymised form. Theme preferences stored in localStorage persist until you clear your browser data.

10. International Data Transfers

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process data on servers located outside the EEA. When this occurs, appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with GDPR Chapter V, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use or applicable legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice.

12. Contact & DPA Complaints

Questions about this Cookie Policy or your rights? Reach us via the contact page.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national Data Protection Authority. A list of EU/EEA DPAs is available at edpb.europa.eu.
